One Piece Emperors: Old and New
In the One Piece universe, the Emperors are pirates of unmatched power and influence. This article explores both the old and new Emperors, revealing the secrets of their rise and reign.
Ancient Emperors
1. Edward Newgate aka Whitebeard
Edward Newgate , better known as Whitebeard , was known as " the strongest man in the world" and " the closest to One Piece" . Originally from Sphinx, he sailed under the orders of Rocks D. Xebec before forming his own crew. Gifted with the powers of the Gura Gura no Mi , or Tremor Fruit , his power and strength were undeniable and earned him his status as Emperor. His charisma and vision of family made him a revered and respected character. Shot down during the Summit War in Marineford, his sacrifice remains a memorable moment for all One Piece fans.
2. Shanks Le Roux
Shanks , the captain of the Red-Headed Pirates , is known for his balanced and peaceful approach. A former cabin boy on Gol D. Roger's crew, he plays a crucial role in Luffy's life. Shanks has impressive Haki and lost an arm saving Luffy, but this has not diminished his strength and influence. The only Emperor without any Devil Fruit powers, his power is nonetheless phenomenal. He also currently holds the largest bounty of the 4 Emperors, 4,048,900,000 berries.
3. Charlotte Linlin aka Big Mom
Charlotte Linlin , aka Big Mom , is the terrifying matriarch of the Charlotte family and ruler of Totto Land. Her Devil Fruit, the Soru Soru no Mi , or Soul Fruit , allows her to manipulate souls. Her brutal strength, combined with her ability to create Homies, made her a feared figure in the world of One Piece . Big Mom is now stripped of her status following the Battle of Onigashima, thanks in part to the alliance of Trafalgar Law and Eustass Kidd.
4. Kaido
Kaido, "the strongest creature in the world" , is the captain of the Beasts Pirates . His Devil Fruit , the Uo Uo no Mi Seiryu model , a Mythical Zoan -type Azure Dragon Fish Fruit, grants him extraordinary power and resilience. His thirst for battle and desire for chaos make him unpredictable and dangerous. Like Big Mom, Kaido is now stripped of his title of Emperor following the Battle of Onigashima, thanks to the resistance and determination of Luffy and his allies.
New Emperors
1. Shanks Le Roux (unchanged)
Shanks continues to play a role of balance and peace in the pirate world. Revered for his Armament Haki , he continues to influence the world's greatest powers. His reasonable approach to conflict and natural charisma maintain his position as one of the most respected Emperors in One Piece .
2. Marshall D. Teach aka Blackbeard
Marshall D. Teach , known as Blackbeard , took his place as Emperor after assassinating Whitebeard during the Summit War at Marineford. Now possessing two Devil Fruits, Whitebeard's Gura Gura no Mi , and his Yami Yami no Mi or Dark Fruit , he poses a growing threat and embodies unbridled ambition in the pirate world. His rise to power marks a turning point in the dynamics of the forces at sea.
3. Baggy the Clown
Buggy, once a cabin boy alongside Shanks in Gol D. Roger's crew and Luffy's comedic rival, has surprisingly risen through the ranks to become Emperor. Known for his Devil Fruit, the Bara Bara no Mi or Fragmentation Fruit , and his theatrical nature, Buggy has taken advantage of circumstances to increase his influence and status, despite seemingly paltry combat skills compared to the other Emperors. Now the leader of the Cross Guild, an alliance formed with Sir Crocodile and Dracule Mihawk, he seems determined to create new strategies to achieve his goals.
4. Monkey D. Luffy
Monkey D. Luffy , the daring main protagonist of One Piece , was recognized as Emperor following his exploits and growing impact in the New World. With his Gum Gum Fruit and exceptional determination, he challenged the greatest figures of the pirate world such as Kaido and Big Mom and made a name for himself as a rising power.
